  • Handspun, handwoven cotton square. Cotton fiber I use for this piece is all harvested from my garden! Started from tiny seeds, soil, water, sunshine and lots of love. About 3-4 month later from planting, cotton boll will start to open, then I hand picked fiber, took seeds out, hand carded, spun into chunky, uneven yarn and finally wove. These are all natural colors of cotton, no dye used. This is so special to me, from seeds to textile. Hope you enjoy this simple yet beautiful cotton cloth.

    手紡ぎ、手織りのコットンスクエア。

    この布で使っているコットンは、全て私の畑から収穫したものです。

    春に小さな種を蒔き、土と水とおひさまと、たくさんの愛を注いで育てた棉。種を蒔いてから３−４ヶ月後にはコットンボールがはじけて、ふわふわの棉の繊維がうまれます。それから手で摘み取り、種と繊維を分け、カードがけをして繊維の方向を整え、今回は太めのぽこぽこの糸に紡ぎ、最後にやっと織り。

    白、茶色、そして緑。全て棉の持つ自然の色で、染めた色ではありません。柔らかな、優しい色。

    棉のうつくしさをそのまま見てほしくて、ただシンプルに重ねるように織りました。

    種から布へ。畑の景色や手で紡がれる糸の表情、そんなものを感じてもらえたらいいなと思います。
